HG Padma Netra Prabhu
His Grace Padma Netra Prabhu was born on December 13, 1970. His legal name is Provat Biswas. During his childhood, he spent time reading the Gita, Ramayana, and Mahabharata with elder devotees. His heart was naturally drawn to Krishna, Radharani, and Gaura-Nitai, and he eagerly sought knowledge about Them.
While studying in Class Eight, he came across Srila Prabhupada’s books through a relative, which had a profound impact on him. Inspired by the teachings and upon receiving the darshan of His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Maharaj, he decided to dedicate his life to spiritual practice. In 1980, he left home and officially joined ISKCON Śrīdhām Māyāpur on January 1, 1981.
He received first initiation in 1989 and second initiation in 1991 from H.H. Jayapataka Swami Maharaj. From 1997 to 2003, he served as the Namahatta Office Manager. Since 2003, he has been serving as one of the Namahatta Co-Regional Directors and a member of the EIDC, overseeing seven districts: Kolkata, Howrah, South and North 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, and Jhargram.
Due to his dedicated preaching efforts, each district now has over 4,500 devotees. More than 30,000 devotees practice Krishna consciousness under his guidance. There are now more than 2,000 active Namahatta Sanghas in his preaching area. He supervises around 20 brahmachari preachers and spends approximately nine months each year traveling to preach in various parts of West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, and, whenever required, other parts of the world.
Padma Netra Prabhu has also established 13 new preaching projects in areas such as Digha, Belda, Kharagpur, Contai, Chandipur, Ramnagar, New Alipore (Kolkata), Kashinagar, Radhanagar, Taki, Baduria, and Bhuta. He teaches Bhakti-śāstrī and Bhakti-vaibhava at the Mayapur Institute and organizes eight Namahatta Melas annually, each attended by over 2,000 devotees. He manages two Navadvīpa Maṇḍala Parikrama groups and coordinates over 25 Ratha Yatras every year. Additionally, he oversees devotee accommodation, office management, kitchen services, and the spiritual care of Namahatta brahmacharis in the Māyāpur Namahatta division.
Every morning, he chants japa and presents Hari-kathā via Zoom and YouTube, where over a thousand devotees regularly join. His life is a testament to tireless service, inspiring thousands to embrace Krishna consciousness through the Namahatta mission.
One of his unique contributions is his ability to distill the deep conclusions of Lord Krishna’s and Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu’s pastimes into poetic form. Over the decades, this intellectual and devotional gift has manifested in many published works, including his notable book Bhakti Kusumanjali.
