The gopÄ«s therefore began to question the trees and plants about Kį¹į¹£į¹a. There were various types of big trees and small plants in the forest, and the gopÄ«s began to address them. “Dear banyan tree, have you seen the son of MahÄrÄja Nanda passing this way, laughing and playing on His flute? He has stolen our hearts and has gone away. If you have seen Him, kindly inform us which way He has gone. Dear aÅoka tree, dear nÄga flower tree and campaka flower tree, have you seen the younger brother of BalarÄma pass this way? He has disappeared because of our pride.”
(Krsna Book 30)
In the PadyÄvalÄ« this original cause of union is described when RÄdhÄrÄį¹Ä« tells one of Her constant companions, “My dear friend, who is this boy whose eyelids, dancing constantly, have increased the beauty of His face and attracted My desire for conjugal love? His ears are decorated with buds of aÅoka flowers, and He has dressed Himself in yellow robes. By the sound of His flute, this boy has already made Me impatient.”
