Rukmapura (Rama-tirtha)
Information – In the Temple are the deities of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Sri Laksmipriyadevi (Wife of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu), Sri Nityananda Prabhu, Sri VÄ«rabhadra Prabhu (Son of Sri Nityananda Prabhu), Sri VasudhÄ (Wife of Sri Nityananda Prabhu) & Sri Sri Ramachandra.Ā There are many Tamal trees around the temple, along with a very old Peepal tree.
Nityananda then pointed out to Jiva in the distance. Rama-tirtha, where Lord Balarama killed the Kolasura demon and then took bath with the Yadus. This place is now known as Rukmapura, and it is situated on one end of the Navadvipa parikrama. During the month of Kartika this place is especially glorious.
(Sri Navadvipa-Dhama-Mahatmya, Chapter 16)
After NityÄnanda Prabhu, the greatest branch is VÄ«rabhadra GosÄƱi, who also has innumerable branches and subbranches. It is not possible to describe them all.
PURPORT
ÅrÄ«la BhaktisiddhÄnta SarasvatÄ« į¹¬hÄkura writes in his AnubhÄį¹£ya, āVÄ«rabhadra GosÄƱi was the direct son of ÅrÄ«la NityÄnanda Prabhu and a disciple of JÄhnavÄ-devÄ«. His real mother wasĀ VasudhÄ. In theĀ Gaura-gaį¹oddeÅa-dÄ«pikÄ (67) He is mentioned as an incarnation of Kį¹£Ä«rodakaÅÄyÄ« Viį¹£į¹u. Therefore VÄ«rabhadra GosÄƱi is nondifferent from ÅrÄ« Kį¹į¹£į¹a Caitanya MahÄprabhu….
(CC Adi 11.8)
AlthoughĀ VÄ«rabhadraĀ GosÄƱi was the Supreme Personality of Godhead, He presented Himself as a great devotee. And although the Supreme Godhead is transcendental to all Vedic injunctions, He strictly followed the Vedic rituals. He is the main pillar in the hall of devotional service erected by ÅrÄ« Caitanya MahÄprabhu. He knew within Himself that He acted as the Supreme Lord Viį¹£į¹u, but externally He was prideless. It is by the glorious mercy of ÅrÄ« VÄ«rabhadra GosÄƱi that people all over the world now have the chance to chant the names of Caitanya and NityÄnanda. I therefore take shelter of the lotus feet ofĀ VÄ«rabhadraĀ GosÄƱi, so that by His mercy my great desire to write ÅrÄ« Caitanya-caritÄmį¹ta will be properly guided.
(CC Adi 11.9 – 11.12)
Among all the branches of ÅrÄ« NityÄnanda Prabhu, VÄ«rabhadra GosÄƱi was the topmost. His subbranches were unlimited.
